My backyard...north and south....

With temperatures soaring into the 80's this past weekend, we had unseasonably warm weather for this time of the year.  It was a long time coming as far as I'm concerned, but of course, it help living so close to the ocean!

One of my closest friends came to visit yesterday, and after spending several hours at the beach we drove to Cape Porpoise in Kennebunkport for dinner.  Cape Porpoise is about a 15 miles from here, perhaps a 20-30 minute drive.  We had a lovely dinner at Pier 77 which is atop The Ramp, (both very good to eat at); the sun was setting just as we finished dinner, perfect for picture taking!

This is the entrance to The Ramp.

The pier where the local fishermen weight their day's catch.

My friend left the following day and we decided to drive up to Fort Williams which is a park in the town of Caple Elizabeth which houses the Portland Headlight.  People come from all over the country (and world) to visit the Portland Headlight as it is featured on a a postage stamp as well as on a quarter (I think?)...it's about a 30 minute drive from here, well worth it, as you'll agree!  I has a lot of open spaces as well as numerous trails/paths leading to remnants of an old fort, tennis courts, a playground, and picnic tables, etc.  It's one of my favorite places in which to spend an afternoon, especially when it's hot and muggy at home!  Enjoy the pics, and if you're lucky enough to ever come to Maine, please make sure to visit both Cape Porpoise and Fort Williams in Cape Elizabeth.

hubby always cooperates (for the most part!)...this one did not work out....and even if it had, it would n't have been that great, would it?

pretty artsy?

does this look familiar?

Yes, there's a beach there....let me warn you, however, that the water is quite frigic!
